Stop Surviving. Start living with Intention.

Modern Mind was born from a friendship that started in graduate school — working together at a VA hospital, sitting side by side with Vietnam veterans in a therapy group. That experience shaped everything about how we think about healing: that it happens in relationship, that community matters, and that good therapy requires therapists who are genuinely invested in their own growth too.

From there, we built LOVELINK, a podcast to bring accessible, honest psychoeducation to people who might never walk into a therapist's office. And then we asked ourselves a bigger question: what would it look like to build a practice that actually reflected what we believed about therapy? One that was collaborative, innovative, and human?

That's Modern Mind. A carefully built team of therapists, each with distinct expertise, who work together on your behalf. We consult, we collaborate, and we think creatively so that you get the right kind of support, not just the nearest available appointment.

We’ve worked with:

How we Work

Most of us spend a good portion of our lives in survival mode - reacting, protecting, managing. It's exhausting, and it quietly shapes every relationship we have. Our work is about something different.

From reactive to intentional

We help you understand the patterns driving your reactions, and create enough space between trigger and response that you can choose how to show up, rather than just defaulting to what feels automatic or safest.

Finding your wise self

Everyone has a part of them that is grounded, clear, and capable of real connection. Therapy at Modern Mind helps you access that part more consistently - not as a destination, but as a way of moving through your life.

Deep, transformational work

This isn't surface level symptom management. The shifts we work toward change the way you relate to yourself and others - your relationships, your decisions, your sense of who you are and what you want.

Reasons Why Relationship Therapy Can Be Life-changing

Improve Communication

Relationship therapy helps you develop the skills to express your feelings and listen effectively, fostering clearer, healthier interactions.

Heal from Past Wounds

Therapy provides a safe space to work through past hurts, rebuilding trust and emotional security in your relationships.

Manage Life Transitions

From major life changes like marriage, parenthood, or loss, therapy helps you and your loved ones navigate these transitions with understanding and resilience.

Process Loss

Therapy offers support for navigating the pain of loss, whether it's the end of a relationship, death, or other significant changes. By providing a safe and understanding environment, therapy helps individuals process their grief, explore complex emotions, and find pathways to healing.

Strengthen Emotional Connection

By identifying patterns and developing new ways to connect, therapy deepens emotional intimacy and helps strengthen your bonds.

Resolve Conflicts

Whether ongoing tension or a major rupture, therapy offers the tools and insights to address conflicts and find resolution, restoring harmony in your relationships.

Why Do You Need Relationship Therapy?

Relationships are the cornerstone of our emotional well-being, shaping how we experience love, connection, and even ourselves. Yet, maintaining healthy relationships—whether with a partner, family members, or within ourselves—can be challenging. Unresolved conflicts, poor communication, emotional distance, or life transitions can take a toll on our mental health and relationships.

What Happens in Relationship Therapy?

If you’re new to relationship therapy, understanding the process can help you feel more comfortable. At Modern Mind, we guide you through a supportive and collaborative journey toward healthier, more meaningful connections. Here’s what you can expect:

Initial Consultation

In your first session, your therapist will work to understand your unique relationship challenges and goals. This foundational step helps set the direction for therapy, ensuring that the approach is tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.

Understanding Relationship Dynamics

You and your therapist will explore the patterns of communication and behavior that are impacting your relationships. Identifying these dynamics is key to uncovering the root causes of emotional disconnection or conflict.

Improving Communication

A major focus of therapy is learning new communication skills and problem-solving techniques. You’ll practice expressing your feelings clearly, listening actively, and addressing conflicts in a healthy, constructive way to improve your relationships.

Ongoing Support and Progress

Throughout therapy, your therapist will provide continuous support and adjust the strategies as needed to help you reach your goals. The aim is not only to resolve current issues but also to equip you with the tools to maintain healthy, fulfilling relationships long-term.
